Bengals fans throw objects at Andy Dalton (Video)

Cincinnati Bengals fans voice their displeasure with Andy Dalton after an embarrassing season opener.

It’s no secret that Andy Dalton has hit some bumps in the road throughout his career as a Bengals quarterback. However, his all-time abysmal performance against the Ravens has Cincinnati fans fuming.

As Dalton trotted off the field during a blowout loss to Baltimore, he was met with a fair share of boos. As a matter of fact, being shut out at home during a season opener won’t exactly please fans. But, some Bengals fans went above and beyond in voicing their displeasures with Dalton.

A “you suck” heckle is something Dalton is probably used to, as most starting quarterbacks (excluding quarterbacks like Brady and Rodgers) are in the NFL. By the same token, you have to really screw up to have hats thrown at you. Especially at home during the first game of the season.

On the other hand, an “I want Carson [Palmer] back” chant is pretty typical as well. Palmer was a terrific player who led the Bengals to success in the years prior to Dalton’s arrival. But, did that fan see Palmer’s stats for the day? Not much better than Dalton. Why reminisce on the days of old when A.J. McCarron is sitting on your bench? Just a thought.

Just how bad was Dalton in the season opener? 0.7 QBR bad. Dalton managed to complete just over 50 percent of his passes for 170 yards, no touchdowns and four interceptions.

Cincinnati fans had all of the right reasons to be outraged at a gut-wrenching start to the season. Who knows, this performance could mean the McCarron era nears. Luckily for the fans, the Bengals have a matchup against the Texans on Thursday night this week, where they have a chance to rebound.
