Benfica welcome CSKA Moscow to the Estadio da Luz on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Here’s all the info you need to watch the match online.
Benfica play host to Russian side CSKA Moscow in matchweek 1 of the Champions League group stage. This is sure to be an exciting group with Manchester United and Basel making up the rest of it. United are favorites to top the group but the other three teams will fancy their chances of finishing as runners up. Benfica have started their domestic season in fine form as they are undefeated after five matches. They sit third in the Portuguese Primeira Liga but they are only two points behind front-runners Porto and Sporting.
The Russian season is a little further along as CSKA have played nine league games after which they sit fourth in the table. Their form has not been wonderful but they have played well away from home. In order to get anything from this match CSKA will have to be at their best. However, this could be difficult with their notoriously shaky defense. Moscow’s keeper, Igor Akinfeev, has not kept a clean sheet in a Champions League group match since a 0-0 draw with Arsenal back in 2006. He did record one in CSKA’s qualifying campaign though so things could be looking up for the stopper.
