College Football Week 3: NFL Draft big board rankings
While Kiser gets overlooked on a bad Virginia team, NFL scouts will certainly take notice of his eye-popping collegiate numbers.
The senior linebacker continued his hot start to the season with 14 tackles, including two for loss, two sacks and a pass breakup in a losing effort against Virginia. Kiser is well on his way to a career high in sacks and already has 21 tackles for the season, which could eventually eclipse his previous best.
After receiving numerous offers as a four-star linebacker in the class of 2014, Kiser burst onto the scene as a sophomore with 117 total tackles, including 14 behind the line of scrimmage. Kiser took things to the next level in 2016 with an All-American campaign that included 133 tackles including 10 for loss, 6.5 sacks, an interception and six pass breakups.
The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Kiser has good size for a linebacker, and will surprise people with his quickness in both pass coverage and run defense. As those tackle numbers show, Kiser has a nose for the ball and great instincts, and is a terrific all-around linebacker prospect with ability to diagnose routes in coverage.
Virginia will look to move to 2-1 on the season with a victory over Connecticut, with Kiser hoping to improve his draft stock even more.
