RB Leipzig face Monaco at Red Bull Arena on Wednesday, Sept. 13. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
RB Leipzig make their Champions League debut on Wednesday against last year’s surprise team, Monaco. Leipzig are the most hated team in Germany for their parent company Red Bull bending Germany’s 50+1 rule. Last season, Monaco won Ligue 1 and made it to the Champions League semifinal. However, Monaco sold Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva, Tiemoue Bakayoko and Kylian Mbappe to bigger clubs.
Leipzig were founded in May 2009 and played their first season in the fifth tier of the Bundesliga. Following the 2015-16 season, Leipzig were promoted to the Bundesliga, finishing second in their debut season. After losing their season opener, the Bulls have won two straight games. Striker Timo Werner and left-winger Emil Forsberg are the focal point of the Leipzig attack. Werner has scored three goals this season and scored 21 goals last year. While Forsberg scored eight goals and added 22 assists last season.

Monaco are second in the French table, with 12 points from five games, three points behind PSG. In their last league game, Monaco lost 4-0 to Nice, behind a Mario Balotelli brace. Monaco’s defense was awful, allowing Nice forwards to get behind their backline and run onto the ball that was sent past the defense. Radamel Falcao is off to a fantastic start for the French champions. Falcao has seven goals in the first five games of the season.
