Raiders’ Marshawn Lynch fined for giving middle finger

In classic Marshawn Lynch fashion, the running back gave the middle finger and has been fined for the obscene gesture.

During the Oakland Raiders victory in Week 1 over the Tennessee Titans, Marshawn Lynch made an obscene gesture in the fourth quarter, per ESPN.

Lynch was flipping the middle finger on both of his hands and the incident was captured by CBS cameras. The amateur decision has resulted in a fine from the NFL.  Lynch will have to pay $12,000.

This isn’t the first time Lynch has been fined by the league. Grabbing his crotch in the 2015 NFC Championship cost him $20,000. He did the same thing a month earlier and he was forced to pay $11,050 that time. Needless to say, Lynch has never been one to care about the consequences that come from the NFL with his actions.

This slightly tarnishes the much awaited return of one of the NFL’s best running backs. Lynch ran for 76 yards on 18 carries. While it wasn’t the best start to his comeback, Lynch shouldn’t be too disappointed with his performance given that the Titans were the second best rush defense in 2016. They allowed 1,413 yards on the ground last season. The only team to put up a better number was the Dallas Cowboys with 1,336 yards. Nevertheless, his strong running style set the tone for the offense that scored 26 points over the course of the game.

In addition, he made one catch for 16 yards. Lynch nearly made a long touchdown reception, but was overthrown by Raiders quarterback Derek Carr.

His numbers will probably improve against an abysmal New York Jets rushing defense in Week 2. The Jets allowed 190 yards on the ground on Sunday.

Lynch had a busy offseason training for this return after being traded to Oakland by the Seattle Seahawks and sitting out the 2016 season.
