Hot Seat Watch, Week 3: 5 coaches who need to win
3. Brian Kelly
Brian Kelly had the great Week 1 that he absolutely needed after spending most of last season on the hot seat. His team trounced Temple and it jumped them into the Top 25 and gave some hope going forward.
Last week, they had a tough game on their hands against the Georgia Bulldogs. While they lost a tough one against a really good football team, it’s going to bring back the question of whether or not he can win the big one.
Had they won that game against Georgia, it would have undoubtedly shot them further up the rankings and everyone would be asking if Notre Dame football is back. Instead, the question this week is can they bounce back from the tough loss?
They have a road tilt against Boston College and a chance to move back above .500 on the season. If they handle the Eagles a lot like they did Temple, then it should have people feeling well again and that they just dropped a tough one last week.
If they don’t come away with the win this week and drop to a losing record, well then it’s going to start to feel a lot like last year. The continuous roller coaster of emotions will make anyone sick. Kelly can’t afford to go through that again.
