The New York Giants did not have Odell Beckham Jr. during Week 1 of the NFL season, and he could be out a lot longer than one week.
The New York Giants got off to a slow start to their 2017 NFL season, losing to division rival Dallas in Week 1. The issue with the team was they did not have star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in the lineup, and the offense looked really bad. OBJ was limited in practice on Thursday, but some believe he may be out between 6-8 weeks with his ankle injury.
Alex Smith looked like a new man on Thursday night in Week 1, throwing the ball downfield in the Chiefs rout of the New England Patriots. While his start was nice, he knows his time in Kansas City is limited, as the team will likely go with Patrick Mahomes II next season. Smith led the team to a stunning victory in Week 1, and may just bring the Chiefs a Super Bowl ring before he leaves.
Adrian Peterson signed with the New Orleans Saints this past offseason, after his Minnesota Vikings decided to cut ties with him. In the team’s Week 1 game against said Vikings, Peterson only played nine snaps, and is certainly not happy about it. According to ESPN, Peterson said he “did not sign up for nine snaps,” and was seen upset on the sidelines during the Saints Week 1 loss to his former team.
After sitting out a week due to the devastating caused by Hurricane Irma, the Miami Dolphins will kick off their season on the road against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday. When asked about playing against Jay Cutler, Chargers star linebacker Melvin Ingram said that Cutler “was not a problem for us.” Cutler was supposed to spend 2017 in the broadcast booth, but an injury to Dolphins starter Ryan Tannehill brought him out of retirement.

Finally, it did not take running back Marshawn Lynch long to log his first fine since coming out of retirement. Lynch was caught holding up two middle fingers during his Oakland Raiders 26-16 victory against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. For the gesture, Lynch will be fined $12,000 by the NFL, so welcome back Beast Mode.
