We’ve got an interesting non-conference matchup between two Power 5 teams on Saturday morning. Kickoff at 12:00 p.m. ET at Heinz Field will be the Pittsburgh Panthers, as they host the No. 9 Oklahoma State Cowboys. ESPN will have the telecast on September 16. Oklahoma State is not just one of the best teams in the Big 12, but probably in the entire Power 5. Head coach Mike Gundy has done a phenomenal job turning his alma mater into a near national power. The Pokes don’t mess around, as they look to be on a collision course with the arch rival Oklahoma Sooners in Bedlam.
Pittsburgh isn’t as lucky. They lost to their in-state rival already in the Penn State Nittany Lions of the Big Ten. While Pittsburgh hated to lose that game, Penn State too is a national title contender like Oklahoma State is. Pittsburgh has plenty of time to save its season, but will have to dominated in ACC play to have a shot at going to a good bowl this year.

The Panthers face the harsh reality that they might drop a second game in the non-conference against a juggernaut of an opponent on Saturday. Hats off to them for scheduling such a tough slate, but this year will be really hard for them to make much noise out of the ACC.
