East Carolina Pirates wide receiver Quay Johnson completely contorts his body to come up with this ridiculous first-down grab vs. the Virginia Tech Hokies.
The East Carolina Pirates may be 0-2 on the season, but they are giving the No. 16 Virginia Tech Hokies all they can handle in their Week 3 meeting in Greenville on Saturday. One play in particular comes to mind with how things are going for the Pirates in this one.
East Carolina quarterback Gardner Minshew puts perfect touch on this pass to find wide receiver Quay Johnson for this unbelievable grab. It was a 27-yard gain for the Pirates, but how did Johnson contort his body to come up with this catch? The human body isn’t supposed to do this, right?
Oh my what a catch!@ECUPiratesFB is feeling the magic early on. They lead No. 16 Virginia Tech, 17-7. pic.twitter.com/e9XSF9toxk

Johnson is in the air near the sidelines when he makes the grab. He has a Virginia Tech defender in his face, but is able to twist his body to drop his right hand low enough to make the grab. Somehow, some way, Johnson manages to tap his left foot in bounds before falling to the ground after making the catch.
This is one of those highlights you will have to watch at least three or four times to fully understand what is going on. It’s like your mind is tricking you into thinking he didn’t come up with it, or physically couldn’t come up with it. What we got was one of the best grabs of the young 2017 college football season.

To be hanging with an ACC Coastal power like Virginia Tech is credit to how the Pirates are playing on Saturday afternoon. Should East Carolina pull off this upset, what would that mean for their season going forward? What about Virginia Tech’s?

East Carolina could rally after this win in AAC play. For Virginia Tech, maybe the entire ACC Coastal is awful this year. Are we looking at the Miami Hurricanes running away with the division en route to getting slaughtered by whomever comes out of the ACC Atlantic?
