Loser: LSU Tigers (No. 12 down to No. 25)

This was a tough one to decide on, especially since there were a couple other stellar candidates for the final loser spot: Kansas State, Stanford and Louisville. However, the Tigers were beaten down so badly in Starkville that it’s amazing they’re still allowed back in Baton Rouge.

I kid, but seriously. The Tigers were put to the test to start SEC play after dominating defensively for their first two wins of the season. They knew Mississippi State wasn’t going to be an easy team to beat, but the Tigers weren’t prepared for the beatdown they suffered at the hands of the Bulldogs.

Just how bad was it? After tying the game up at 7-7, the Tigers were outscored 30-0 the rest of the way as the offense couldn’t get anything going and the defense couldn’t stop the Bulldogs’ rushing attack.

In fact, Mississippi State rushed for 285 yards on the Tigers’ usually-stout defense and Nick Fitzgerald had 88 of those. He also rushed for two touchdowns and passed for 180 yards and two more scores. This kid is the real deal.
