With Week 3 of the college football season in the rearview mirror, we take a look at a projection of the College Football Playoff.

Week 3 of the college football season brought some intense action, with some big time programs being tested this past weekend. With the College Football Playoff a ways away, we can already see that it is going to be tough for the committee to round out the four teams selected. Just in Week 3 alone, we saw Clemson and Louisville treat us to another instant classic, while USC was tested by the Texas Longhorns.

In other news, the Alabama Crimson Tide continued to roll toward a possible undefeated season. The Oklahoma Sooners, coming off a huge victory against Ohio State last weekend, drubbed the Tulane Green Wave at home. Penn State looked very efficient in their blowout win against Georgia State, and Oklahoma State showed that their offense was no match for Pitt, as they dropped 59 points on the Panthers.

Judging by the early returns of the college football season, this has the potential to be one of the best ones yet. Teams like USC and Clemson were tested in Week 3, and while Alabama and Oklahoma played cupcakes, they do have some tough games ahead of them. If the season continues to play out the way it has early, that Oklahoma versus Oklahoma State game later in the year is going to be epic.

With all eyes on Week 4, where teams begin to get into their conference schedules, the projections are only going to get tougher. For now, we have a pretty good idea of who would get in if the season ended tomorrow, but as we saw last year, there is no true formula to getting in. Here is our latest College Football Playoff projection.
