Hot Seat Watch, Week 3: Winners and losers
College football Week 3 has come and gone. How did the coaches on the hot seat fare this week?
The third week of the college football season has come and gone. For many coaches, the horrific thought of a rough conference schedule is now right around the corners. For others, their jobs might already be decided upon.
In a week where many coaches entered on the hot seat, plenty did themselves favors while others continued to dig their metaphorical coaching grave. It wasn’t a pretty week for some, while it was a huge week for a few lucky coaches.
This week saw blowouts and impressive wins for teams that needed it most and a coach that desperately needed a win falling just short. Here are the winners and losers from week 3 of the hot seat watch.
Winner – Lance Leipold
If Lance Leipold can ever find some consistency with his offense, he will be just fine. His defense is doing their best to keep their head coach employed and they finally went out and got their first win of the week on Saturday.
It might have come against Colgate, but the Bulls just needed any type of win at this point to get some confidence going. The good news is that while they will face conference opponents coming up, their defense has been consistent.
The offense will need to improve, but so long as they’re defense keeps them in it the team will have a chance. That also means it allows Leipold the chance to have something to build on going forward. This was a great week for him.
