Greg Olsen injury update: Ruled out with foot ailment
The Carolina Panthers are beating the Buffalo Bills, but they sustained a major injury with the loss of tight end Greg Olsen, who apparently hurt his foot.
Two years ago, the Panthers almost pulled off a perfect season. They began the campaign 14-0 before eventually going 15-1 and reaching the Super Bowl for the second time in franchise history. Ultimately, the Panthers fell short of their dreams, losing to the Denver Broncos.
Last year, everyone expected a return to the playoffs an perhaps another berth on Super Sunday. Instead, Carolina struggled mightily in a disappointing 6-10 season that saw Carolina picking in the top 10 of the NFL Draft.
Now, after starting 1-0 with a road win over the San Francisco 49ers, the Panthers are seeing their first dose of adversity. Tight end Greg Olsen was forced out of the game in the second quarter with a foot injury and the team listed him as questionable to return. Unfortunately, Olsen has now been ruled out and was seen on the sidelines sporting a boot and crutches.
We don’t know the severity of the injury, but if Olsen has to miss significant time, it’s a major problem for Carolina. Last year, Olsen went for over 1,000 receiving yards, putting him in the same class as Travis Kelce and Jordan Reed.

Carolina’s passing attack runs through Olsen, although it should be noted that the Panthers have some more weapons after a fruitful offseason. The Panthers went out and and drafted both running back Christian McCaffrey and wide receiver Curtis Samuel with their first two selections, while getting back a trimmed-up Kelvin Benjamin.
We will continue to update you on Olsen’s situation.
