The Miami Dolphins are taking on the Los Angeles Chargers at the StubHub Center this weekend, but Lawrence Timmons has gone AWOL prior to the contest.

It’s not often that a player goes missing in the hours before a game (if at all), but that’s apparently what happened with inside linebacker Lawrence Timmons. Timmons, who signed a two-year deal with the Dolphins this offseason has now gone rogue, with nobody sure of his whereabouts for a while. Now, Timmons has reportedly been located but won’t play against the Chargers on Sunday afternoon.

Timmons, 31, is one of the better players on Miami’s defense. He was supposed to add to a front seven that already includes Kiko Alonso, Cameron Wake, Ndamukong Suh and others. Now, Miami will be without one of its top players as the Dolphins get their season off the ground.

Last year, the Dolphins went 10-6 after a 1-4 start and reached the playoffs for the first time in almost a decade. However, Timmons and his former team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, bounced them from the Wild Card round in a 30-12 win.

Without Timmons, the Dolphins will be trying to shut down a powerful Chargers offense led by quarterback Philip Rivers. Rivers will be hoping to avenge a 31-24 defeat against Miami last year, which was punctuated by an Alonso pick-six late in the fourth quarter.

As far as Timmons is concerned, hopefully everything is alright. We’ll continue to update you throughout the afternoon.
