Todd Bowles

Head Coach, New York Jets

The New York Jets went 10-6 under Todd Bowles in his first season with the club, and everything seemed to be going so well. New York had found some magic in Ryan Fitzpatrick, and the offense had two playmakers on the outside in Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. Since 2015, however, we have seen a fall of epic proportions.

New York no longer has any talent on the team and with Bowles seemingly lost at the helm, owner Woody Johnson needs to step in. The Jets aren’t going to win many games with this roster regardless of whether the coach is Bowles or Vince Lombardi, but a statement needs to be sent to the fan base. The Jets have shown no life over the past year and a half, and while general manager Mike Maccagnan is clearly the biggest problem in the building, the second-biggest is Bowles. As they say, one step at a time.

Putting Bowles out of his misery would tell the fans that New York is looking toward the future while realizing its current coaching staff isn’t going to be helpful moving forward. It would be a small gesture to an angry group, but the Jets have to take the first step.
