College Football Week 4: NFL Draft big board rankings
Think of the versatility of the great running backs in the NFL right now. The ability for powerful running backs to be able to catch the ball as well as they can run over defenders and bury them in the ground is a skill everyone wants their back to have.
Those receiving skills were on full display against Georgia State. Although he didn’t rush for many yards, Barkley showed why he is as dangerous catching the ball as he is running with it when it hits his hands.
He finished with 142 receiving yards and really showed why he is going to be the top running back off the board in all likelihood if things continue to hold up as is. He’s a serious Heisman candidate and certainly should be near the top.
As the Nittany Lions get ready for conference play, Barkley is going to be facing much better defenses now. The competition is going to be that much tougher on a weekly basis now moving forward.
This week, Penn State will hit the road to take on Iowa. The Hawkeyes better be prepared to treat him as an equal threat in the receiving game or they are going to be in for a very long day at home.
