Sam Darnold

QB, USC

Despite throwing two interceptions on the night, Sam Darnold maintains the top spot on the big board for this week. While he did throw the two picks, he also had 397 yards and three touchdowns in a huge win for USC.

Even more importantly, he showed incredible poise to put his team in a position to win the game late and didn’t fold. That poise that has defined Darnold throughout his career to date was once again on display in Los Angeles.

The Trojans are out to prove right now that they are indeed a top team in the country. While Texas gave them everything they could handle and more, it was the type of win that certainly should galvanize the team going forward.

USC now has two huge conference road games coming up. They will travel and face Cal this week in a game that is certainly going to be difficult. Justin Wilcox and his program have been one of the best surprises early on and are coming off of a huge win over Ole Miss.

Darnold and the Trojans have had the fortune of being able to play home games to start the season. Now, they’ll hit the road for the first time with two straight conference road games against teams that should test them.
