We’re getting ready to see the Detroit Lions and New York Giants on Monday Night Football. Which team will prevail in this contest?

Last Sunday at Ford Field, the Detroit Lions rallied from a 10-0 first-quarter deficit and wound up walking away with a 35-23 win over the stunned Arizona Cardinals. The New York Giants would face the Dallas Cowboys later that evening and their offense was non-existent in a 19-3 setback at AT&T Stadium.

So for the second straight week, Big Blue is in the prime time spotlight. This time, it is a home game for Ben McAdoo’s club as they look to avoid a 0-2 start by knocking off Matthew Stafford and company at MetLife Stadium.

Despite last week’s touchdown-less effort against the defending NFC East champions, the consensus from the fine people at SportsBook Review has the Giants as a three-point favorite. It’s a line that opened at New York minus-5.

Odds

Line: Giants (-3)

Over/Under: 43.5

Why the drop in the point spread? The questions surrounding the availability of Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is certainly an issue. Add in the factor that this is a New York team that has now gone seven straight overall games without reaching the 20-point mark.

Detroit’s defense is fair from overwhelming. Of course, the Giants’ offensive line leaves a lot to be desired these days and coordinator Teryl Austin’s unit could create some opportunities. In any case, but of these clubs don’t have reliable ground games. And contrary to popular opinion, Manning can find a way to move the ball up and down the field without his top target. Getting in the end zone is a different story. But look for a big night for the kicking game and the New York defense to get the necessary stops.

Pick: Giants 26, Lions 15
