Packers injury updates: Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb leave early

GREEN BAY, WI - NOVEMBER 06: Randall Cobb

Along with the beating that the Green Bay Packers received on Sunday night, their top two wide receivers left early.

While the season is still young, things aren’t looking too well for the Green Bay Packers. After beating the Seattle Seahawks in week one, Green Bay had to go to Atlanta to take on the defending NFC champions and it wasn’t pretty.

Green Bay lost 34-23, but they also lost their top two receivers as Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb left the game early and didn’t return. Nelson suffered a quad injury just eight plays into the game, while Cobb tried playing through a shoulder injury, but it became too much to deal with in the fourth quarter and he left the game.

Cobb would tell reporters “I got hit in the first quarter and then aggravated it. I think I’ll be all right though.”

Things weren’t as positive as they were for Jordy Nelson though as his injury was a non-contact injury and was on the same leg that he tore his ACL in 2015. It doesn’t appear to be that serious though as Nelson tried working through the injury on the sidelines, jogging and getting on the stationary bike.

With Cobb believing he will be all right, he could return to the field next week. If either Nelson or Cobb misses any time though, expect Davante Adams to step up in the receiving game, something he did in 2015 before he broke out for almost 1,000 yards in 2016.

Green Bay is back home in week three as they take on the Cincinnati Bengals, who have struggled to score a touchdown this season, it could be a rebound game for the team.
