The ranks of the unbeaten will lose a few more members in Week 4 and I think these five undefeated teams are locks to lose for the first time this year.

Entering Week 4, there is still a large amount of college football teams that remain perfect. That’s not entirely surprising as it’s still awfully early in the year, and many teams schedule inferior opponents early in the year to get off to a strong start before conference play gets underway.

Usually, there will only be one undefeated team, if that, left at the end of the college football season, and with the advent of the college football playoff, the chances that we have even one undefeated remaining is slim.

Having said that, it’s only a matter of time for these undefeated teams to suffer their first blemish of the season and add a “1” to the loss column. It’s inevitable and the head coaches of football programs across the country will say the same thing. They don’t have goals of going undefeated, they have goals of winning the conference and seeing what shakes out beyond that.

But for the fans, being undefeated, as long as possible, is something to hang your hat on and use as bragging rights over your rivals who may have gotten off to a rough start. I’m all for trash talk and friendly rivalries, but after this weekend, the number of perfect teams will be drastically lower than it stands after Week 3.

Some matchups in Week 4 pit undefeated teams against each other. Meanwhile, others are just running out of good fortune and due to catch an “L.” But looking at the Week 4 schedule, there are five college football teams I believe are locks to fall from the ranks of the unbeaten.
