Dolphins trade for LB Stephone Anthony right after suspending Lawrence Timmons

The Dolphins wasted no time in getting some help at linebacker following the announcement of the suspension of Lawrence Timmons.
On Tuesday, just two weeks into the NFL season, the Miami Dolphins announced that they have suspended linebacker Lawrence Timmons indefinitely. Even though with the collective bargaining agreement the maximum amount of time they could suspend Timmons is four games, there is still a hole on the roster on the defensive side of the ball to fill.
Well, the Dolphins wasted no time in getting an insurance policy for that. Shortly after the suspension was announced on Tuesday, Miami made another announcement, that being they have traded with the Saints for linebacker Stephone Anthony. The deal sees Anthony head to the Dolphins for an undisclosed 2018 NFL Draft pick.
Anthony was a first-round pick out of Clemson for the Saints in the 2015 NFL Draft. He’s missed the first two games of this season with a high-ankle sprain, but has appeared in 26 games throughout the first two years of his career. In the past two seasons, Anthony has tallied 128 tackles and a sack. Battling through injuries and issues with head coach Sean Payton, this is a fresh new start for the former Clemson start with the Dolphins.

As for Timmons, he signed a two-year, $12 million deal with the Dolphins this past offseason but his tenure in Miami got off to a rocky start with missing the first two games. Head coach Adam Gase refused to talk about what was going on with Timmons, but on Tuesday we would learn that he was facing suspension.
