With Jaromir Jagr still sitting as a free agent, the KHL is becoming a viable option. And with Jagr stating he isn’t interested in a PTO, this might be the next step in the legendary forward’s long career.

The story on where Jaromir Jagr is going next doesn’t seem to be done quite yet.

With the legendary forward still not signed by an NHL team, the KHL could be the next step in his storied career.

Russian NHL/KHL report Igor Eronko tweeted out today about his conversation with Jagr. Jagr told Eronko this:

"“I’m not gonna go for it. It’s funny we talk about it. After 25 years they know what kind of player I am. There’s 3-4 teams we talk to. If I know for sure it’s no NHL then I [am] gonna look for something else in Europe.”"

Eronko went on to tweet that Jagr said this,

"“KHL is possible cause if I’m in the NHL then I want to go to the Olympics. I want to try to make the team.”"

Jagr went on to speak about how the best league for him to make the Olympics, outside of the NHL, would be the KHL. And it’s obvious that, even without serious interest from the NHL, Jagr could easily play in the KHL and do very well for himself.

This wouldn’t be the first time that Jagr played in the KHL. He played in the KHL for parts of four seasons during 2004-05 and between 2008-2011, all three seasons for Omsk Avangard. In his first cameo there he scored 16 goals and had 23 assists in 32 games.

During his second stint in Russia he played in 155 games. During the 155 games he scored 66 goals and added 80 assists to his tally. 82 goals and 103 assists in 187 games is an impressive scoring rate.

And while Jagr is undeniably slower since his last appearances, all statistics and analytics point to him being a top nine forward in the NHL still. Only time will tell if an NHL team gets smart, or if he goes and tears apart the KHL and the Olympics.
