Check out Dwight Howard in Charlotte Hornets jersey
Dwight Howard has become well-traveled, and now we can officially see him in a Charlotte Hornets’ jersey.
With an offseason trade from the Atlanta Hawks to the Charlotte Hornets, Dwight Howard will be on his third team in as many seasons this year. The return to his hometown only lasted one season, as a 31-year-old big man doesn’t fit with a rebuilding plan, but Howard did average a solid 13.5 points and 12.7 rebounds per game in 74 starts for the Hawks last year.
After the recent revelation he thought about retiring after a disappointing 2014-15 season with the Houston Rockets, Howard is getting another fresh start in Charlotte. Everyone is saying the right things right now, and Howard is slated to be the Hornets’ starting center.
NBA teams are starting to do team photos and such ahead of the new season. Howard has now put on his Hornets jersey for the first time, at least for public consumption.

Howard has cited some motivation to “shut people’s mouths” this season. Hornets head coach Steve Clifford was an assistant coach with the Orlando Magic from 2007-2012 during Howard’s best years, and the veteran big man sees a coach that wants him and will get the best out of him as they reunite.
"Cliff’s going to push me, but he’s not going to ever be one of those guys who I would say would break my spirit,” Howard told ESPN. “He really believes in me. Throughout all the mess that has happened the last couple of years, this is a great opportunity for me to prove to myself that I know exactly who I am — to just shut people’s mouths."

Howard never fully developed as an offensive player, and as injuries have sapped his athleticism, his production has declined with age. But if he can stay healthy, which he pretty much has over the last two seasons, Howard can give the Hornets a notable presence defensively and on the glass.
