Carmelo Anthony’s camp has already mentally moved to Houston, according to reports.

At this point in time, it’s the NBA’s worst kept secret. The Houston Rockets want Carmelo Anthony. Anthony wants the Houston Rockets. According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, Anthony’s camp is growing incredibly optimistic about a deal with the Rockets.

Isola reports that the Anthony family have already mentally moved to Houston. However, a deal is still not within realistic sights. Although both sides are incredibly interested in each other, the Rockets have very little to offer New York. After giving up an abundance of players to receive Chris Paul, only few disposable players remain in Houston. One of those players is Ryan Anderson. However, the Knicks are reportedly turned off by Anderson’s massive contract. Therefore, the two sides remain at a stalemate.

But, time is a both a blessing and a curse for the Knicks. As time rolls on, the Rockets may have to throw in a player, such as Eric Gordon, to sweeten the deal. Ultimately, Houston would prefer to keep Gordon, but that might result in Anthony staying put. On the other hand, if the Knicks don’t deal Anthony soon, they’ll have a sticky situation on their hands. With Anthony likely refusing to suit up for the Knicks, a standoff is the last thing that New York needs.

Ultimately, it’s time for the Knicks to cut their losses. Anthony is a lost cause and although New York may not get what they would like from Houston, something is better than nothing. With Anthony stating he will only waive his no-trade clause to join James Harden and Chris Paul in Houston, a deal with the Rockets is imminent. In this case, it’s a matter of when, not if, Anthony will be traded to Houston.
