2. Getting hot at the right time

One of the most important things when it comes to contending for a World Series title is going into the playoffs with some confidence. The Cubs’ confidence right now is growing as they continue to win. Chicago is currently riding a hot streak and that is bad news for the rest of baseball.

Just how hot are the Cubs right now? After starting the month of September with a 4-6 record, they have reeled off seven consecutive games, dating up to Sept. 20. That three-game sweep the Cubs suffered at the hands of the Brewers has seemed to light a fire under this team.

There’s nothing scarier than a talented Cubs team firing on all cylinders heading into the final couple of weeks of the regular season. They’re on a revenge tour and the division foes are next up on the schedule. It’s going to be mighty difficult to stop the freight train that is the Cubs’ offense and pitching staff in the final stretch.

Unfortunately, the Cubs have a rough stretch of games coming up on the road. Fortunately, they are against division opponents so there’s a chance they could just extend their lead in the NL Central and run away with the title.
