Seth MacFarlane’s spaceship is on the move, as FOX is warping The Orville season 1 to its regular time slot on Thursdays starting this week. What hasn’t changed is the show’s mix of sci-fi comedy and drama.
Season 1, episode 3 is called “About A Girl” and features the crew of The Orville having a debate about gender and culture when two crewmembers debate what to do with their newborn baby. At the same time, comedian Norm MacDonald is the featured guest star. Mke of that what you will, but Seth MacFarlane is definitely pursuing both laughs and heavy subjects with his newest series.
The question will be if he’ll be able to keep up ratings numbers as the show moves from its plum post-NFL spot to Thursday nights, where the competion will be different. Can Seth MacFarlane’s name recognition and his novel idea launch The Orville season 1 to new heights, or will it crash land?
