Wide Receiver

Devin Funchess $4200 vs. New Orleans Saints

The Saints are another poor defense to take advantage of in DraftKings formats. The porous defense has already given up over 1000 yards in two games.

This time around the Panthers get their shot to put up big numbers. The reason this slot goes to Devin Funchess is two-fold.

First, Kelvin Benjamin is slotted for a top-10 price tag in DraftKings format. He is the number one option on the team who could see an even bigger target share with Greg Olsen’s injury.

The second reason is the Saints rookie cornerback Marshon Lattimore. The young corner played surprisingly well in his first action in Week 2 against Brandin Cooks. He may be the only bright spot in the Saints secondary. Look for him to shadow Benjamin leaving Funchess to spend time on the much less talented corners.

Funchess has yet to find his footing as a pro. He is a big talented wide receiver who should be a red zone threat. The Olsen injury may allow Funchess to slot in that role in the red zone. Olsen lined up as a receiver almost as much, if not more than, in line as a true tight end. Funchess can fill in that role while the Panthers wait for their All-Pro tight end to return.

Cam Newton can rebound from a shaky start by targeting Funchess and the other Panthers wide receivers against this defense. Like the Colts defense, the Saints defense should be a target for all daily fantasy players going forward.

Runner up

Davante Adams $5600 vs. Cincinnati Bengals

This runner-up tag comes for Adams based on the team’s other receiving options battling injuries. The Packers play the Cincinnati Bengals who have been bad but their defense has been okay to this point.

In this Week 3 game, the Packers could be without their top two receiving threats, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb. Both players were injured in the Sunday night game against the Falcons.

The Packers offense can support multiple receivers having fantasy value, thanks to Aaron Rodgers ridiculous play. Davante Adams started slow in Seattle, as did the Packers entire offense. In Week 2 against Atlanta he rebounded. The receiver finished with eight catches on 10 targets for 99 yards and a touchdown. WIth both receivers out those numbers should increase.

Adams is severely under valued at $5600 with the injuries to his teammates. This will change if both suit up Sunday. As it currently stands, the number one receiver for Aaron Rodgers is the 25th-priced wide receiver. That is opportunity that should be jumped on.

Just a heads up, in the case both Cobb and Nelson play Adams gets downgraded. Rashard Higgins the Browns wide receiver would be the next best option as a value play.
