It’s the battle of the Borussias as Monchengladbach travel to Dortmund today.
BVB went one point clear of Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga table thanks to a 3-0 away win over Hamburg on Wednesday. Americans Christian Pulisic and Bobby Wood both received starts, but it would be Pulisic that had the most impact. The 19-year-old provided Dortmund’s third goal on a beautiful move, bursting into the box and finishing off the inside of the far post.
Dortmund have adjusted to life without Ousmane Dembele quite well, going undefeated in their first five Bundesliga matches, winning five.

While Gladbach can’t match Dortmund’s record, they are off to a decent start of their own, posting two wins, two draws and a loss to start the season. They currently sit seventh in the table and are coming off a 2-0 home win against Stuttgart on Tuesday. The matchup with BVB would normally produce another American vs. American showdown, but Fabian Johnson has not been seeing any playing time for Gladbach. USMNT manager and U.S. supporters will be concerned by this.
