Week 4 of the college football season is over. How did it impact the projected College Football Playoff teams?

The college football season is over one-quarter of the way through. This saw some teams stand out, while others faltered and lost their footing in the top 25. There was also an impact on the projected outlook for the College Football Playoff.

The College Football Playoff will see four schools attempt to capture the 2018 National Championship in January. Clemson won in 2017, with their defeat of Alabama. As of Week 4, the Tigers have a solid chance at making the postseason for the third consecutive year.

The same goes for Alabama, who as of the start of Week 4, held the No. 1 ranking in the AP Poll. They obliterated Vanderbilt, 59-0, after the Commodores showed promise in the first few weeks of the season.

Another top-ranked team, Oklahoma, struggled to get by Baylor, 49-41. The Bears lost to teams like Liberty and UTSA in previous weeks, so even with the win, the Sooners didn’t perform how they should have against the Big 12’s worst team, record-wise.

Penn State was the other team near the top of the AP Poll. They played Iowa in a primetime game. It was a defensive battle, but the Nittany Lions held their form to stay perfect.

With the performance of these teams, will they remain as the four teams that get into the College Football Playoff? Or will another school sneak in and steal a spot?

Let’s look at how the projected top four after Week 4 looks for the College Football Playoff.
