Georgia rolled the dice with their first touchdown of the game against Mississippi State, and it was perfect.
Georgia walked into Saturday night’s SEC showdown with Mississippi State with a 3-0 record. A 20-19 win over Notre Dame in Week 2 highlighted this. With conference having started on Sep. 23, the Bulldogs looked to continue their momentum.
The Georgia defense stopped Mississippi State to start the game and took over on offense. To say they received momentum was an understatement, as the offense scored a touchdown in grand fashion.
This came on a flea-flicker play, as quarterback Jake Fromm took the ball back and launched it down the field. He hit Terry Godwin for the 59-yard score to put Georgia up, 7-0, early in the first quarter.

A crisp and smooth play by the offense. Fromm and the running back had a perfect set-up. The former then dropped back and threw a clean pass to Godwin, who had multiple steps on his defender, and walked into the end zone. You won’t see better-looking flea flickers than this.
It’s the best way possible for Georgia to start their point production for the evening. Given the wide-open look Fromm had on that pass, is there more of that to come? How soon might that happen?

With both Georgia and Mississippi State at 3-0, it’s an early battle for positioning in the SEC. Whoever goes down certainly won’t have their season spiral immediately, but a loss impacts the solid start for both schools.
