Did NC State Wolfpack star Bradley Chubb go too far in spitting on the Florida State logo after his team knocked off the Seminoles?

Saturday’s matchup with the NC State Wolfpack was always going to be an uphill climb for the Florida State Seminoles. For one, this was their first game in the last three weeks as their Week 2 contest was cancelled and Week 3 game postponed due to the effects of Hurricane Irma. More than that, though, they were also starting a true freshman, James Blackman, at quarterback.

As if starting a true freshman in place of the injured Deondre Francois wasn’t difficult enough, the NC State defense is loaded with playmakers. Chief among those stars, however, is defensive end Bradley Chubb. Chubb is projected as a first round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, and he showed FSU why that’s so throughout Saturday’s game.

Though Blackman largely played well for his first collegiate start, Chubb and the Wolfpack were in his grill all day. And with the visiting offense also getting into a rhythm, that spelled bad news for the Seminoles.

In the end, the Wolfpack were able to upset the No. 12 team in the country, dropping Florida State’s record to 0-2. If the upset didn’t sting enough, though, the aforementioned Chubb added a bit of insult to it. After the victory was sealed, he marched to midfield and then spit on the FSU logo painted on the field:

This is most certainly reminiscent of Oklahoma Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield planting the OU flag at midfield in Columbus after upsetting Ohio State. However, this might be a little more disrespectful.

Mayfield eventually apologized for planting the flag, so you have to wonder if that’s coming soon from Chubb. Either way, it feels like disrespecting midfield logos following upsets might be becoming a trend.
