Alabama mauled the Vanderbilt Commodores on Saturday, and the carnage made one Vandy fan seemingly forever sad and alone.
Many people expected the Alabama Crimson Tide to be 3-0 entering Week 4 of the 2017 college football season. Much fewer expected the same for Vanderbilt Commodores, however. Yet, that was the situation entering Saturday, which created quite a bit of intrigue about their matchup in Week 4.
Only fueling that curiosity in the matchup was the subdued war of words between Alabama and Vanderbilt. The Commodores went through the old “We want Bama” type of rhetoric. Meanwhile, the Crimson Tide predictably exuded their patented “No you don’t” response that they have over the years.
Indeed, the Tide were right — Vandy didn’t want anything to do with Alabama. Nick Saban and company made sure to let them know exactly why, to the tune of one of the worst drubbings between Power 5 teams that we’re going to see this season.

Entering the fourth quarter, Alabama was ahead 52-0 and had their backup quarterback and other positions in the game. At this point, many Commodores fans had cleared the stadium. In one section, every fan had bolted except for one exceedingly sad Vanderbilt fan:

That’s a new level of sadness, man. Just look at that man’s face. He is contemplating existence, the meaning of life and why Chick-Fil-A is closed on Sundays when you inevitably want it most all in one moment. You did this, Bama.

Of course, things will inevitably turn around for Vandy this season. They’re a good team with a solid defense, nice offensive pieces and a great coach. With that said Commodores fans, try not to let Alabama get you as down as this lonely fan.
