Aaron Rodgers suggests he may kneel during national anthem (Photo)
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers made a statement on Instagram this Sunday morning, lending to the idea he may kneel before his game.
The Packers are taking on the Cincinnati Bengals at Lambeau Field on Sunday afternoon, but that news almost seems to face into the background this weekend. With the highly-charged political atmosphere surrounding the NFL games on Sunday, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers took to Instagram on Sunday morning and made an interesting post.
Rodgers, who has not been part of any protest or demonstration during the national anthem to this point, posted a photo of he and three teammates kneeling during practice. This was not part of any protest but simply a moment of rest during a day of work. Whether or not Rodgers is showing us that he intends to kneel during the anthem is unclear, but certainly raises some eyebrows.
Additionally, we see a comment from Tom Brady, the New England Patriots quarterback, who left a flexing arm emoji. Brady also spoke his mind in a reserved way on Facebook on Sunday morning, leaving a picture of he and teammate James White with a caption of unity and solidarity.

All of this is a result of comments made by President Donald Trump on Friday night in Huntsville, Alabama. Trump was speaking to an audience when he proclaimed that any player who is protesting in any form during the national anthem should be fired. In response, scores of league owners have denounced the comments, including Robert Kraft and Shad Khan, who each donated $1 million to Trump’s campaign.
Furthermore, Packers CEO Mark Murphy released a statement about Trump’s comments, backing his players to do what they believe is correct. As for Rodgers, he has already been on record stating that he feels Colin Kaepernick should be in the NFL.
