7. Matt Forte

We’ve discussed Forte as a sleeper before, because it simply seems that he is being completely overlooked on a Jets team that can’t seem to muster much up on offense. No, he’s not going to have multiple touchdown performances and takeover games, but as he showed last week with his nine runs for 53 yards and three catches for 38, he still has what it takes to perform at a decent level and offer you a good fantasy football floor.

This week, the Jets take on Miami, and as with most divisional games, expect it to be a tough match up. Even Miami head coach Adam Gase said he expects the game to be a slugfest. Both teams predicate themselves on establishing the run, and Forte is the early down back in New York, despite Bilal Powell eating into the receptions and getting third-down work.

The Dolphins did a decent job defending Melvin Gordon last week, but the Chargers’ offensive line wasn’t able to create any movement at all. Expect New York to do a little bit better in this area and Forte could be the beneficiary. Once again, he is someone who you can plug into your lineups and at least feel comfortable about some type of floor.
