Carolina enters play at 2-0 and tied with the Atlanta Falcons for first place in the NFC South. The Panthers have defeated the San Francisco 49ers on the road and the Buffalo Bills at home to get to 2-0. Carolina looks to have one of the best defenses in football this year. However, their offense leaves a lot to be desired. Quarterback Cam Newton is still struggling with his accuracy in the passing game.
New Orleans enters play at 0-2 and in last place in the NFC South. The Saints lost on Monday Night Football in Week 1 to the Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis. In their home opener, the Saints would get pulverized by the visiting New England Patriots. Once again, it is all offense and no defense for the Saints in 2017. Is this the end of the road in New Orleans for quarterback Drew Brees and head coach Sean Payton?

This is a game of great desperation for the Saints. Should they fall, they will almost certainly miss the NFC playoffs for a fourth straight year. A win has them back in the mix with their division rivals. Carolina still needs a convincing win on the season to prove it can get back to 2015 Super Bowl form.
