Borussia Dortmund face Real Madrid at Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Here’s all the info you need to watch.
Borussia Dortmund have got off to an excellent start in the Bundesliga with 16 points in six games. However, Peter Bosz team lost their first Champions League game 3-1 against Tottenham. Real Madrid have got off to a terrible start in La Liga by their standard. Zinedine Zidane’s side have 11 points from six games but defeated APOEL 3-0.
Dortmund are first in the Bundesliga behind a high-powered offense. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored eight of Dortmund’s 19 goals. Maximilian Philipp joined Dortmund in the summer from Freiburg and has started to heat up in recent games. In the last game, Philipp scored twice against Borussia Monchengladbach. For the season, Philipp has four goals and two assists and would start in the front three alongside Aubameyang and Christian Pulisic. After breaking his ankle at the end of last season, Julian Weigl has returned to the lineup. The box-to-box midfielder will be challenged to win possession back against Madrid. Dortmund captain Marcel Schmelzer will be out until the end of October with an ankle injury. Jeremy Toljan will start his place and will likely be targeted by Madrid’s attack.
With Cristiano Ronaldo suspended to start the season, Real Madrid struggled to start the season. However, injuries have also been a problem for Madrid. Karim Benzema will miss Tuesday’s game and Madrid could be without left-back Marcelo. With Benzema injured, Ronaldo will play a more central role against Dortmund. Marco Asensio has had a strong start to the season, scoring four goals. Asensio will likely start on the left-wing and Gareth Bale likely on the right side of Ronaldo. Madrid will depend on Isco, Casemiro, and Toni Kroos to win possession in midfield and push the ball forward to the front three.
