Keys for Georgia

The Bulldogs roll into this game at 4-0 and with their confidence at a high level after beating a solid Mississippi State team at home. Their biggest key is probably coming into this game with the same attitude and not allowing complacency to sit in. That was likely one of Mississippi State’s biggest issues last weekend coming off of a huge win against LSU.

Georgia has the perfect combination to be able to take down Tennessee on the road. They play amazing defense, giving up only 11.5 points per game and less than 270 yards per game. That’s a recipe for success on the road because no matter what shows up on offense, defense is something that travels to any stadium.

The Bulldogs’ defense was dominant this past Saturday, limiting Mississippi State to only three points, allowing only 280 yards and forcing two turnovers. If that defense travels to Knoxville, Butch Jones and Tennessee can mail it in this weekend.

On the other side of the ball, QB Jake Fromm has been an absolute stud, even though he only has four starts under his belt. While his offense has been leaning heavily on RB Nick Chubb and the running game, he’s been highly efficient throwing the ball. Fromm’s also been protecting the ball well, throwing seven touchdowns to only one interception. That’ll need to continue on the road for Georgia to have more success this weekend.

Tennessee’s rush defense has been terrible this season, giving up 242.3 yards per game. On the flip side, Georgia — and primarily Chubb — has rushed for 223.3 yards per game. If they can hit the magic 200-yard mark on the ground, Tennessee has no shot to slow down the Bulldogs in this game.
