Next time anybody thinks about challenging Rajon Rondo to a game of Connect Four, stop thinking and walk away.

It’s a well-known fact that Rajon Rondo is good at basketball. However, Rondo has a secret talent that nobody knew about. Unfortunately for him, not even Pierre, the Pelicans mascot, knew about this hidden gift, either. Rondo is the Connect Four king. No, really, he’s a deity at the classic two-player connection game. According to him, he beats “everybody”.

At the beginning of the video, fans watched as Rondo and Pierre traded some rather puzzling moves. Meanwhile, Rondo mapped out his victory in his head while keeping Pierre guessing. Eventually, Rondo struck the fatal blow, boasting to Pierre and all of the viewers that he had won. Rondo had played the mascot. Wherever Pierre would play to stop Rondo from winning, would eventually set up another winning play.

Rondo made quick use of his new teams’ mascot and won his giant game of Connect Four in the most unorthodox fashion. Furthermore, he was able to interact with Pelicans fans watching live, earning him some points in his new town. He even challenged anyone who was willing to play him before his departure. Rondo, decked out in his Pelicans uniform, is displaying his talents for the organization before even stepping foot on a court. Nice.

Rondo joins the Pelicans from the Bulls as he prepares for his 13th NBA season. The accomplished former Celtics man has jumped around from city to city in recent years, but looks to help Boogie Cousins and Anthony Davis bring some success to New Orleans. The four-time NBA All-Star will also attempt to revive his career with the Pelicans. The 31-year-old’s window of opportunity in the NBA continues to shrink, maybe his skills on the court this year can match his Connect Four skills. Only time will tell.
