Georgia Bulldogs (4-0)

Last week: Win vs. No. 17 Mississippi State, 31-3
Last rank: 2nd

After beating Mississippi State badly in Week 4 at home, the Georgia Bulldogs are the best team in the SEC East and the best challenger to the Alabama Crimson Tide should they meet in Atlanta in December. The Bulldogs have a smothering defense that is sound at all three levels.

They’ve also got a good problem to have at quarterback. Jake Fromm has come in an lit the world on fire in his 3.5 games of action since starter Jacob Eason went down with a knee injury. The Bulldogs can still pound the rock with Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. If they beat Tennessee on Saturday, it might be a special year for the Dawgs.

Alabama Crimson Tide (4-0)

Last week: Win at Vanderbilt, 59-0
Last rank: 1st

Georgia might be closing the gap, but then again, Alabama is the best team in the SEC by a wide margin. The Crimson Tide will be favored in every game the rest of the way. Only the Clemson Tigers seem to be like a real threat to them for a national title at this point of the season.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts is getting better in his second season under center in Tuscaloosa. It’s hard to see the Crimson Tide slip up at any point this season. Auburn, Mississippi State and maybe Georgia will be tough, but this is the Crimson Tide’s conference to lose and everybody in the world knows it.
