We’re getting ready to see the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets collide at MetLife Stadium. Which team will prevail in this contest?
Two teams that combined for a total of eight wins a year ago are coming off double-digit wins. So what will we see when the New York Jets host the improving Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday? The big key here is can Todd Bowles’ defense can put the clamps on one of the top rookie running backs in the league?
Leonard Fournette was the fourth overall pick in April and he’s showing that he can take on the load in terms of carries (57). He’s rushed for 199 yards and three touchdowns, on top of eight receptions for 66 yards. But will he see a Jets’ defense that allowed 190 and 180 yards on the ground, respectively, in losses to the Buffalo Bills and Oakland Raiders? Last week against the Miami Dolphins, Adam Gase’s club gave up just 30 yards rushing on 15 carries.
It makes for an intriguing chess match on Sunday afternoon.
Odds
Line: Jaguars (-3)
Over/Under: 39.5
Surprisingly and perhaps based on what happened in London last Sunday, SportsBook Review tells us that the Jaguars are slight favorites here. But we also know from the over/under that a lot of points are expected here from either team (unless the defenses get into the end zone).

Can anyone actually get a gauge of what we will see this week from the Jacksonville Jaguars? From a 22-point road win at Houston to a 21-point home setback at Tennessee. Then came last week’s impressive rout of the Ravens in London. So which version of Marrone’s team shows up this week? We get the feeling that the New York Jets’ defense rises up for a second straight Sunday and beats a Jacksonville team expected to prevail here.
Pick: Jets 23, Jaguars 14
