LaVar Ball admits to receiving illegal offers ‘every summer’ from sources, in order to recruit his sons.
In what is quite possibly the least shocking news of the week, LaVar Ball admitted that he received ‘illegal offers every summer’ to recruit his sons. Ball commented on the subject on CBS Sports’ Flagrant Two podcast. His comments are a result of the recent FBI investigation into the fraud and corruption in college basketball.
In the investigation, 10 people have been charged at this time, with more expected, four of those men being college basketball assistants. Furthermore, Ball said that these men who approached him offered him anything, anything to lure his talented sons away from UCLA, where Ball has declared they will all attend.
The individuals who approached Ball offered many incentives, according to his account. These goods stretching from loads of money to AAU uniform benefits and everything in between. However, Ball turned them down every time. The ‘recruiters’ attempted to persuade recruits and nudge them in the direction of certain agents, universities and apparel companies. Little did they know at the time, UCLA and the Big Baller Brand are in the Ball’s three kids’ futures.

By the look of things, LaVar Ball’s decision to turn these men away has proven to be the right choice. With Lonzo already in the NBA, LiAngelo already at UCLA and LaMelo committed to UCLA, his kids are set for life. Although Lavar’s methods of advertising and going about life may be unorthodox, there is certainly nothing sketchy about the way he does things. Other than the grey area of LaMelo’s (a high schooler) signature shoe, LaVar has steered clear of any trouble. And despite the widespread, differing opinions of the head of the Ball family, he deserves a little respect for that aspect of his business.
