AC Milan vs. Roma live stream: Watch Serie A online
AC Milan face Roma at the San Siro on Sunday, Oct. 1. Here’s all the info you need to know to watch.
How do you solve a problem like AC Milan? Touted as one of the title favorites at the start of the season, Milan spent the summer rebuilding after longtime club owner Silvio Berlusconi sold the Rossoneri to a Chinese consortium. Six games into the season and Vincenzo Montella’s men have already lost twice, including last Sunday’s 2-0 loss to Sampdoria.
Montella, fearing for his own job, has already shaken things up this past week in response to their most-recent loss. Montella canned the club’s fitness coach Emanuele Marra, part of a first step in trying to improve his team’s fortunes.
“After careful consideration, I’ve made my decisions and I consider physical preparation to be among the areas where improvements can be made,” Montella tweeted.
The players also aren’t happy with the current situation. Defender Leonardo Bonucci, who came to AC Milan from Juventus over the summer, said he was “angry” in the aftermath of the Sampdoria match. The team have given up eight goals in six league matches. Their other loss this season was a 4-1 rout against Lazio on Sept. 10 in Rome.
“When I decided to join Milan, I knew there would be ups and downs, but I don’t feel like a scapegoat,” he told reporters Wednesday at a news conference. “Being questioned ignites a fire in me to get out of trouble … When I chose Milan, I knew very well that I could win less, but the presence of the club is important, they’ve sent a message to everyone and we can’t mess around this season.”
AC Milan, who are in sixth place with 12 points, hopesto turn things around before a increasingly impatient home crowd at the San Siro against Roma. The Giallorossi are tied on points with AC Milan, but are a team that’s surging.
Led this season by Edin Dzeko’s six goals, Roma could very well be the team to hand AC Milan another loss. Dzeko seems to have regained his scoring touch in recent weeks, the same finishing that led him to be Serie A’s top scorer last season with 29 goals in 37 league games.
Roma can grind out results, absorb pressure and retaliate offensively when they find opportunity. Eusebio Di Francesco’s team are coming off four victories in all competitions. Grabbing three victories from weaker Serie A opposition (Verona, Benevento and Udinese) and scoring 10 goals has helped Roma’s form and confidence. Di Francesco uses a 4-3-3 formation that likes to take shots on goal. The return of Alessandro Florenzi this season, after missing last season through injury, has made the midfield, led by Radja Nainggolan, stronger and more dynamic.

AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is likely to have a busy outing. Whether Montella deploys three defenders or four remains a question mark. The other big question is whether this AC Milan team loaded with great individuals can play as a team. Roma are on an upswing and a team that finished second to Juventus last season. They’re coming off a 2-1 victory against Qarabag in the Champions League this past Wednesday. Can they also nab all three points on Sunday?
