From mullets to brawls in the stands, Week 5 of the college football season had plenty to offer in the meme department.

If there was a week of college football that lived up to wacky, it was Week 5. The fans can be thanked for that this week, as cameras caught plenty going on in the stands that was equal parts awesome and equal parts terrifying.

On Friday night, the Washington State Cougars pulled off their biggest upset in decades by defeating the USC Trojans at home. It was a huge win for the program and it certainly is going to vault their season up the rankings. During the game, the most magnificent mullet was caught by cameras. The fan became an instant Internet sensation.

Clearly, the power of that mullet helped. While that fan was enjoying himself, there were plenty of more that weren’t. The surrender cobra was redefined throughout the country, whether it was a displeased Wake Forest mom or a Tennessee fan hanging his head.

And if all of that wasn’t enough, the weekend belonged to a brawl involving a man in orange checkered overalls. It appears that someone must have had said something about his fashion choice, because he began throwing hands right away.

It’s a good reminder why watching sports at a live venue can be a little different from watching at home. One typically doesn’t have to worry about some clown in overalls starting a brawl near the couch.

However, what people do in the comfort of their own home is their business. Nonetheless, the mullet man ruled while just about everyone else had a poor weekend. There’s always another game next week. Unless a team is on the bye, like Tennessee.
