Hertha Berlin have started the Bundesliga season with eight points in their first six games. On Thursday, Berlin played Swedish side Ostersund in Europa League. The loss led the club to fire manager Carlo Ancelotti, despite Bayern sitting third in the Bundesliga table. Former Bayern player Willy Sagnol will serve as the interim manager.

Hertha signed Mathew Leckie in the summer after Ingolstadt were relegated. Prior to joining Berlin, Leckie struggled with finishing, often failing to convert easy chances. However, this season Leckie has improved as a finisher, leading Hertha with four goals. Hertha will be without Vedad Ibisevic, their leading scoring from last season. Ibisevic picked up a red card in Hertha’s loss to Mainz.
In addition to losing mid-week to PSG, Bayern dropped points to Wolfsburg after blowing a 2-0 lead. With Manuel Neuer out for the rest of 2017, Sven Ulreich will start in goal for Bayern. However, Ulrich has struggled over the past year when asked to start in place of an injured Neuer. Bayern’s defense should be better against Hertha as Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels will likely start. Ancelotti made the curious decision to start Javi Martinez and Niklas Sule against PSG.
