The cream is starting to rise to the top in the NFL, but not all teams are as bad as their records suggest.
Not every team is whatever its record shows. Some teams are worse, as it could be argued that the Ravens and Titans are much worse than they’ve so far let on. Some teams are better than their record, even if they can’t seem to figure it out. Not every team that is at the bottom of the power rankings deserves to be there.
These teams might not be the first team mentioned by pundit swooning over this week’s latest crush, but they’re much better than their record currently reflects.
Record Should Be: 4-0
Games They Should Have Won: Week 3 vs. Atlanta
It seems weird to have a team with a winning record on this list, but the Lions are that good. They’re better than 3-1, which is a scary thought when you consider the rest of the field in the NFC. Detroit is the best team that no one is giving any credit to, but that’s nothing new to Matthew Stafford and company.
If officials didn’t botch a call late against the Falcons in Week 3, the Lions are undefeated and firmly in the driver’s seat in the NFC. Name a team that is as good or better than the Lions in the conference — you can’t, at least not outright.
Arguments can be made for the Falcons or Packers, but neither is significantly better than the Lions to the point where you’d easily pick against Detroit in a playoff matchup. The Lions are only getting better and they’re a 4-0 team in spirit.
