The Dallas Cowboys lost to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon at AT&T Stadium. What did we learn from this NFC showdown?

It shaped up as an interesting game between the improved Los Angeles Rams and the defending NFC East champion Dallas Cowboys.

It wound up going from intriguing to entertaining from the very get-go.

Three Stars

1. Todd Gurley

The 2015 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year is now an early candidate for comeback player in 2017. In the upset of the Cowboys, Gurley ran for 121 yards on 23 carries and snared seven passes for 94 yards and a score.

2. Greg Zuerlein

The Rams put 35 points on the board on Sunday and the reliable specialist had the majority of them. Along with a pair of PATs, Zuerelein booted seven field goals at AT&T Stadium (49, 44, 44, 30, 28, 43 and 33 yards) to account for 23 points in the five-point victory.

3. Dak Prescott

In a losing effort, the Cowboys’ second-year signal-caller did his best to rally his team. Prescott threw for 252 yards and three touchdowns (1 interception) and also ran for 25 yards. But Dallas lost at home in the regular season for the first time since Week 1 of last season.

Odds

The Cowboys were expected to hand the Rams their second loss of the season, hence the team being 7-point favorites. And if you bet the over (47.5) when it comes to this game, you had to be a happy camper.

Next Week

The 3-1 Los Angeles Rams play host to the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday. The club has enjoyed great success against Pete Carroll’s club the last few years. Meanwhile, the Dallas Cowboys have another tough assignment this week and will once again be at home.
