This is a mixture of shock and vindication. Not many expected the Rams to march into Dallas and beat the Cowboys on the road, but here we are.
It’s a game that says a lot more about the Rams than it does about the Cowboys, despite the overreactions we’re bound to hear. Jared Goff and Sean McVay are cooking up something special in Los Angeles, and this is a huge signature win that the Rams needed. It deserves to be championed as the arrival of a new threat in the NFC West. It’s very hard to argue right now that the Rams aren’t the best team in the division, There are questions about the Seahawks offensive line, the 49ers are rebuilding and the Cardinals seem to be in decline.
Los Angeles can’t claim perfection this early in the season, and there’s a lot that needs to be shored up. But the team is 3-1 and in firm control of the division through the first quarter of the season. No one is buying the Rams as Super Bowl contenders, but then again no one gave them much credit to be more than a slightly better team than what we saw last year. Los Angeles went into Dallas and convincingly beat a team that is seen as superior. That’s a huge confidence booster for a young team that is only getting better.
