The latest move from LaVar Ball? The CEO of Big Baller Brand is pulling his son LaMelo out from Chino Hills High School.

LaVar Ball has never been shy about making moves that cause a stir. He started his own shoe company, Big Baller Brand, and bet the house on it instead of having Lonzo Ball, his son, sign with the top sneaker companies.

And on Monday, he made an announcement that is sure to make waves: LaMelo Ball will no longer attend Chino Hills High School.

Eric Sondheimer of the LA Times reported the news on Monday afternoon.

LaVar will be using the home-school method for LaMelo instead of sending him to Chino Hills HS. Additionally, he will be training LaMelo for the next phase of his basketball career. Shortly after the news broke, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne caught up with him on this decision.

So in essence, the quarreling between LaVar and Chino Hills’ basketball coach was too much to handle. Whether you like it or not, it’s clear that he is looking out for his son’s best interests. He noted to Shelburne about the lack of distractions. For a 16-year old who already has his own signature shoe, that may be the best thing for him in his eyes.

Whether or not LaVar’s training works with LaMelo? Well, time will tell.

Speaking of his signature shoe, that may very well have a lot to do with this as well. It could cause concern for LaMelo’s NCAA eligibility. Bylaws prohibit amateurs from using their likeness and skills for pay. LaMelo having his own signature shoe would, in essence, violate that bylaw. It was already a wonder, for this reason, if LaMelo would ever play for the UCLA Bruins. With LaVar having pulled him away from Chino Hills to train him on his own, that speculation could ramp up now.
