Mitchell Trubisky to start for Bears
It’s Trubisky time in Chicago as the rookie takes over the starting job.
Mitchell Trubisky is officially an NFL starting quarterback. It was announced on Monday that the rookie is set to start next Monday night against the Vikings. Although the Bears signed Mike Glennon to a lucrative deal in the offseason, the experiment did not last long. The Bears currently sit at 1-3, bottom of the NFC North.
The No. 2 overall pick is set to take over full-time starting duties. All things considered, it’s time for a change. The Bears are headed in the wrong direction with Glennon and cannot afford to fall any further behind in the division. Glennon, who has started all four games for Chicago, has looked awful thus far. However, head coach John Fox stuck with his experienced veteran as long as he could. After an abysmal performance on primetime television, Thursday Night Football against the Packers, a change needed to be made.
Fans and personnel in Chicago are hoping that Trubisky can have a positive impact on the team’s performance. Ideally, the Bears would like to mirror the Texans’ success after replacing Tom Savage with rookie Deshaun Watson. Savage was replaced by Watson late in Week 1 and the Texans have looked better ever since. Although Trubisky’s debut is much later, it may be the spark needed to fuel the Bears.

Ultimately, there’s no telling how the Trubisky experiment will go. Needless to say, it’ll probably be better than the inefficient, turnover heavy offense that Glennon is leading. Glennon has thrown four touchdowns to five interceptions thus far. In addition, he’s added another three fumbles and has a QBR of 25.4. Trubisky’s got some high expectations and with his first start on Monday Night Football, the lights are bright for the rookie to shine.
