Dancing with the Stars is back to one episode this week, but some new styles could prove challenging for the remaining celebrities.

Dancing with the Stars’ third week of competition won’t require two dances from each of the couples still vying for the Mirror Ball Trophy. This could be a good thing, since it means that there’s more time to practice and perfect routines.

Of course, it didn’t seem to matter much last week, with the second night seeing the first 9 of the season and several 8s for the early top contenders in this season.

Looking at this week’s spread according to the ABC press release, let’s see where things could be going for everyone left in the competition.

"Derek Fisher and Sharna Burgess:  Cha ChaDrew Scott and Emma Slater: Argentine TangoFrankie Muniz and Witney Carson: SambaJordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold: CharlestonLindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas: JiveNick Lachey and Peta Murgatroyd: JazzNikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev: Viennese WaltzSasha Pieterse and Gleb Savchenko: JazzTerrell Owens and Cheryl Burke: SalsaVanessa Lachey and Maks Chmerkovskiy: JazzVictoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy: Quickstep"

Terrell Owens and Nick Lachey might be the most compelling of the second tier of competitors this week. Both men are coming off of a brush with elimination last week, only to scrape by on the losses of Barbara Corcoran and Debbie Gibson respectively. Will that spur them to improve their performances? Lachey has a second spur as well: his wife, Vanessa Lachey, has emerged as one of the celebrities scoring near the top weekly.

Speaking of the other Lachey, she gets to go head-to-head with her husband this week on jazz, with Sasha Pieterse looking to play spoiler with her own routine.

Drew Scott, with an Argentine tango, could utilize some of the same ideas as he learned for last week’s rumba, especially in terms of the sensuality needed for his emotional performance.

Jordan Fisher hit 24 on both nights last week, and he’s the only person on the list with a Charleston, which is a high-energy dance that could really suit him. I still think he’s got the chops to go far, and this could be a breakout for him.

Frankie Muniz has a challenge this week with samba. The show’s already mentioned he has issues with his back, and if Witney Carson wants to incorporate samba rolls (and if she wants additional praise from the judges, she might very well do so), that could be a strain.

Finally, Lindsey Stirling and Victoria Arlen are all alone in their own categories as well, meaning that they, Fisher, and Muniz could all turn in stellar performances without coming close to overlapping each other.
